Roparun 2014, We'll Never Forget!
Roparun 2014, we'll never forget!
We have completed the 2014 Roparun! Thanks to all the support we have received, the team completed the 519km from Paris to Rotterdam.
The weekend started for most people on the Friday when we met at the parking of the Alcatel-Lucent office in Hoofddorp to load the vans with equipment, food, drinks, bikes and personal belongings. Jan Kuiper the CSO of Alcatel-Lucent The Netherlands, was one of the people waving the team off. The trip to Paris was somewhat hampered by traffic but we got to the hotel around 8PM. Just in time for dinner and a final night of sleep. Early on the Saturday the support team comprising of the people doing our medical, catering and camp support, left the Netherlands to connect with us on route.
At 2PM we cheered on the first teams at the start of their run, we still had to wait over two hours before our scheduled start time. At 5:23PM Ed was the runner of our team to start our trip to Rotterdam. The temperature of over 30C did not prevent us from completing the first part of the run ahead of schedule, throughout the whole distance we kept ahead of the planned times. All the training and planning work of the whole team paid off, handovers worked, cars and bicycles where on the right locations, camps and food was in place and when needed massages and other support were there.
