Bridgewater, NJ, October 21, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Tonight during the inaugural Sanofi in Our Communities, Celebrating Diversity (SOCCD) event, The Sanofi Foundation for North America donated $100,000 to non-profit organizations serving New Jersey communities. The event highlighted the immense diversity and talents within Sanofi’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and recognized the value of this diversity.  Sanofi is an integrated global healthcare leader that discovers, develops and distributes therapeutic solutions focused on patients’ needs.

SOCCD, scheduled during National Diversity Awareness Month, was led by Sanofi North America Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the Sanofi Foundation of North America. The Foundation allotted each of the ERGs a total of $10,000 to fund up-to-two non-profits. In addition, the event hopes to raise awareness of the selected organizations and their altruistic endeavors. Selections were made based on the various initiatives and demographics that each respective ERG supports, ultimately contributing towards a vast range of organizations and people in local communities.

“Tonight’s Sanofi in Our Communities, Celebrating Diversity event is a watermark achievement for the Foundation, North America CSR, Sanofi’s Diversity and Inclusion Council, and all of the participating organizations,” said John Spinnato, president, Sanofi Foundation for North America, and vice president, North American CSR. “It is inspiring to see our very ideals in CSR come to life here tonight. Through the diversity of our very own colleagues, we’re continuing to make strides in forging meaningful relationships with leaders of our local communities, positively impacting where our employees work and live.”

Sanofi’s ERGs tap into the richness of the company’s diversity and offer employees a forum in which to exchange ideas, network and gain exposure to different aspects of the organization. While company-supported and executive-sponsored, these employee-managed, wholly inclusive groups bring value to employees and the company. Ultimately, they serve as incubators for employees to enhance their career development and support and nurture their personal and professional growth.

Representatives from each of the ERGs, non-profit recipient organizations, the North America CSR team, Diversity & Inclusion Council and Sanofi leadership congregated at tonight’s SOCCD reception at Sanofi Headquarters in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Checks were issued to representatives of each of the selected non-profits. In addition to the funding, non-profits also received a variety of crafts and other items made by Sanofi employees as part of Sanofi’s global Season of Solidarity CSR initiative. The items will be donated to clients supported by the winning non-profits.

Sanofi’s ERGs reflect the diverse employee population, with groups including PRIDEConnect, Cancer Connect, DiabetesConnect, ParentsConnect, Women Inspiring Sanofi Excellence (WISE), Alliance for DiVersificAtion, iNClusion and Enrichment (ADVANCE), V.E.T.S., Millennials Influencing Learning & Leadership (MILL) and CareGIVE.
