SASE Recognizes Eight Booz Allen Science and Engineering Professionals
Asian Americans represent the second largest group (21%) of scientists and engineers in America, with 1.3 million workers in science and engineering occupations. The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) recently recognized eight of these professionals from Booz Allen for their contributions to the global business world, academia, and local communities.
Honoring career contributions
Joseph (Joey) Moreland, principal and chief engineer at Booz Allen’s Charleston Digital Hub, received the Technical Achievement Award for work including development of a client-server system for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Christian Manalo, lead associate, and a civil and environmental engineer, received the Career Achievement Award for leading Booz Allen’s Water Community of Practice, building the firm’s civil infrastructure business, and providing leadership to industry and professional associations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Spotlighting leadership in diversity and inclusion
Nai Le, senior consultant, who supports Booz Allen’s defense and intelligence clients as an analyst, received the Employee Resource Group (ERG) Leadership Award for her leadership of the firm’s Asian Pacific American Network (APAN). She serves on the executive board and leads the strategy and operations committee.
Recognizing military service
SASE presented Salutes Professional Service Awards to:
- Keith Oh, senior lead technologist and former Army aviation officer, who leads teams in Booz Allen’s work for the Department of Defense and Department of Veteran Affairs and volunteers in the firm’s Wounded Warrior Mentor Program
- Kimberly Page, chief engineer and former Naval officer, who supports U.S. Navy and Marine Corps clients and leads several professional development initiatives for systems engineering professionals at the firm
Highlighting emerging talent
SASE presented Promising Professional Awards to:
- Lucy Han, staff technologist, who supports Booz Allen’s work for healthcare clients including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and serves on the APAN Executive Board as the events committee lead
- Caleb Koval, staff technologist, who supports the Cyber Network Defense team for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service and helped the Tennessee Air National Guard stand up its Cyber and Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) units (Salutes Promising Professional Award)
- Jonathan Luong, senior consultant, who provides cybersecurity expertise to several U.S. Navy clients and co-leads the San Diego chapter of APAN
Award recipients were honored at the SASE National Conference Oct. 10–12, 2019 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The event is the largest conference and career fair for Asian Americans in the United States with over 3,000 attendees. It recognizes leaders at the collegiate and professional levels, and in military service, celebrating their achievements and impact on their local or professional Asian-Pacific community.
