SEIA Again Recognizes GM for Stellar Solar Use
The Solar Energy Industries Association, the national trade association of the U.S. solar energy industry, released its second annual Solar Means Business report today, identifying commercial solar projects and ranking America’s top corporate solar users.
Once again, General Motors made the list.
In fact, we are among the top 25 companies in the U.S. as measured by solar capacity, with more solar installations in the U.S. than any other automaker. Additionally, the report ranked GM third as measured by percent of solar-powered facilities. Thirty-eight percent of our U.S. facilities are powered partly by solar energy.
Our manager of renewable energy, Rob Threlkeld, states that solar energy has played a significant role in supporting our commitment to promote the use of 125 megawatts of renewable energy by 2020.
“Thanks to organizations like SEIA that tout the fiscal and environmental benefits of a solar program, we’ve seen many companies roll a solar strategy into their business, which is a benefit to everyone,” he said.
