ON Semiconductor Foundation Donates to Save the Children Korea
Donation Ceremony in Support of Child Abuse Victims in Bucheon City
On Feb. 8, 2021, Save the Children Korea celebrated receiving a $25k USD grant from the ON Semiconductor Foundation at the Joongbu Branch of Save the Children in Bucheon City. The grant supports children affected by abuse.
As suspected child abuse cases in Bucheon City have been increasing significantly every year, the ON Semiconductor Foundation and Save the Children will support ‘Creating a safe place for all children in Bucheon City’ until 2023. The project helps address the emotional aftereffects of abuse and prevents its recurrence.
‘Creating a safe place for all children in Bucheon City’ covers the cost of psychological examination and psychotherapy for the affected children. In addition, ON Semiconductor employees will participate in various activities to improve the awareness of child abuse in the region.
“We are proud to contribute to the “Creating a safe place for all children in Bucheon City” project and the critical work of Save the Children Korea. Investing in the regions where we operate and where our employees live is an important part of building a stronger community together,” said Rich Kim, grant advisor for the ON Semiconductor Foundation
The head of Save the Children’s Joongbu branch, Yongsoon Lim, stated, "I hope this donation will serve as an opportunity for many to pay attention to the problem of child abuse and how children affected can be protected."
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month in the United States and an opportunity to learn about the signs of child abuse and its prevention. Communities around the nation come together to support families and children by reinforcing strategies such as outreach programs, resources and activities which offer tools to identify abuse and neglect. With each opportunity, we bring hope to families and come closer to an end for child abuse and neglect. National Child Abuse Prevention Month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to strengthen families to prevent child abuse and neglect. Through this collaboration, prevention services and supports help protect children and produce thriving families.
The ON Semiconductor Foundation was established in February 2019 and became a nonprofit organization formed under the laws of the State of Arizona in January 2020, in an effort to continue the legacy of giving and volunteering in the communities where ON Semiconductor does business and where its employees live. The Foundation's primary focus of giving is in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) education, health, disaster relief, the environment and human services.
Save the Children Korea was launched in 1953 as a Save the Children active country, and is now a member country. It merged with the Korea Child Protection Foundation in 2004. Save the Children Korea took the lead in establishing a legal and social system for child protection by carrying out activities to prevent and respond to violence, neglect, exploitation, and abuse that hinder the growth and development of children.
