Drawing on the latest research from anthropology to neuroscience and her own field experience, she argues that the biggest challenge to human survival isn't our fossil fuel dependency, melting glaciers, or other calamities. Rather, it's our faulty way of thinking about these environmental crises that robs us of power. The Webinar, hosted by the International Society of Sustainability Professionals, is free to ISSP members and costs just $10 for non-members to participate.
Like her 1971 classic Diet for a Small Planet, the first major book to critique grain-fed meat production as wasteful, EcoMind is challenging, controversial and empowering. In EcoMind, Moore Lappé suggests that as we reframe each of the seven common thought traps, we can move from the scarcity-mind to the eco-mind, and, in so doing, our way of seeing life—and our place in it—moves from the premise of separateness to connection, statis to continuous change, and, scarcity to co-creation.
Earlier this year, EcoMind was awarded a silver medal from the Independent Publisher Book Awards in the environment/ecology/nature category. Jane Goodall called the book "powerful and inspiring. "Ecomind will open your eyes and change your thinking. I want everyone to read it," Goodall said.
