Stacking Hands and Keeping Texas Strong
NRG continues to support Winter Storm Uri relief and recovery
Recovery from Winter Storm Uri continues across Texas, with many still facing food and water insecurity as well as damages to housing and property. Since February, we have joined our neighbors and partners to provide relief.
Most recently, our employees volunteered with Kids’ Meals Inc., East Harris County Empowerment Council, and other local nonprofits, who are serving as stopgap for those struggling in the wake of the storm and the pandemic.
- Employees helped to prepare 2,500 sandwiches and 2,000 snacks for families with children during their time with Kids’ Meals Inc. The effort helped to replenish lost meals and provide relief to families struggling under unexpected expenses.
- At the East Harris County Empowerment Council, a long-term partner, employees helped to prepare 200 Senior Care Packages to deliver to senior citizens, who have been impacted.
- Employees will also be joining a local non-profit to provide hygiene kits, along with food, water, and toiletries to 300 families residing in Houston.
- Also, we look forward to joining Rebuilding Together Houston in the coming weeks and putting our muscle towards repairing and sealing homes damaged by the storm.
These activities, coupled with our $10MM commitment to Winter Storm Uri Relief, are our way of supporting the path to relief and recovery. We are committed to rebuilding Texas stronger, together.
Given the breadth of the storm, we know there is still work to be done. We will continue to stack hands and do what we can to help our fellow Texans.
As we continue to work towards recovery, if you or someone you know has been impacted by the storm, please check out our storm-related resources and those of SBP for additional resources.
