Statement From IWBI on the U.S. Presidential Inauguration
NEW YORK, January 21, 2021 /3BL Media/ – The following is a statement on the 2021 Presidential Inauguration by Rachel Hodgdon, President and CEO, International WELL Building Institute (IWBI):
Today, with the historic inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the nation is poised to restore its leadership in the fight against the greatest public health crisis of our time.
As the Biden-Harris Administration begins to initiate its whole-of-government approach to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic, which just yesterday reached a very sad and grim milestone of 400,000 deaths in the United States, we stand ready to serve as a resource and partner in this global fight. We look forward to working with all the incoming leaders in the new Administration as well as the lawmakers in the 117th Congress to advance the critical role buildings, organizations and communities play in advancing health and well-being.
With IWBI’s continuing focus on reinventing the way we interact with our buildings, with each other and with the planet beneath us, we embrace this Administration’s Build Back Better ethos and renew our commitment to meet the urgency of this moment.
But we can’t do this alone. The road ahead is a chance for all of us to come together to build an equitable recovery — one that lays the foundation for our shared vision for everyone to have a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. In the face of the formidable enemy that is COVID-19, we know for a fact that we can activate the spaces and places where we spend our lives as a first line of defense. To be sure, our mission of transforming health and well-being by building people-first has never been more important.
Moving forward, as we design new strategies and implement new policy measures at all levels of government, policymakers should make certain those solutions better reflect our commitment to the health of all people.
