Strategic Partnership Aims to Lower the Carbon Footprint of Conferences and Events Across the Country
The TerraPass Event Carbon Calculator Expands MeetGreen’s Online Tools For Carbon Emission Reduction
HOUSTON, Texas, March 26, 2015 /3BL Media/ - TerraPass, innovator in environmental impact reduction for both individuals and businesses, is excited to announce that it has joined forces with MeetGreen to help lower the carbon footprint of both large and small conferences and events across the country. MeetGreen, a leader in sustainable events, has incorporated the newly launched TerraPass Event Carbon Calculator on its website to further influence footprint reductions in all aspects of its clients’ corporate and personal functions. The goal is to reach more events and conferences with a simple tool that will supply the knowledge needed to reduce emissions.
“Our mission at TerraPass is to provide emission reduction solutions for our partners. Through our ongoing collaboration with Meet Green we are proud to be able to integrate our event carbon calculator onto their site to further support sustainable events and conferences,” says Nancy Bsales, Manager of Sustainable Solutions at TerraPass. “Working closely with MeetGreen has given us the opportunity to combine their expert knowledge of the events industry with our expert knowledge of carbon emissions to build a comprehensive tool that will help event managers understand their climate impact. Our new event carbon calculator will enhance MeetGreen’s resource kit and help further their genuine commitment to sustainability. Together we can make a difference in the fight against climate change”
“Understanding their event’s carbon emissions has been a difficult for many organizers. As an event management company focused on sustainability, it is an area we are often asked to demystify,” states Nancy Zavada, Principal, MeetGreen. “Thanks to our work with TerraPass, we have been able to help our clients understand and reduce their carbon footprint. In addition, clients have the opportunity to devise an offset program that best fits their unique situation. This new tool gives meeting and event organizers a simple way to clearly comprehend their climate impact, develop a baseline and make decisions about how to be accountable for those emissions that are unavoidable.”
Featured in the resources section of the MeetGreen website, the Terrapass calculator allows MeetGreen clients to determine their event’s carbon footprint and includes the ability to purchase offsets so event organizers can be accountable for those emissions they can’t avoid. Users enter data based on the four main energy intensive activities for an event or conference: travel, venue, water and meals. Emission results are shown immediately including a full report by email. Users then have the opportunity to purchase carbon offsets, either for the entire event or one or more of the four main impact areas. These offsets can be purchased monthly or in a one-time payment.
