Students in Southern California Learn To Protect Our Blue Planet™

ANAHEIM, Calif., April 12, 2016 /3BL Media/ Republic Services participated in the Orange County Children’s Water Education Festival in honor of our commitment to protecting our Blue Planet™.

The Festival, hosted by the Orange County Water District, Municipal Water District of Orange County and Disneyland Resort, is geared toward bringing businesses and municipalities together to help educate elementary students about local water and environmental issues.

During the event, teachers brought more than 400 students to Republic’s booth to learn of the tragedy of ocean trash and “The Great Pacific Garbage Patch.” Students who participated in the daylong educational festival walked away with a better understanding of how littering impacts marine life, and how they can protect the creatures in the sea just by reducing the amount of plastic they use and being responsible when it comes to throwing away their trash.
