Stunning Hutch from Black Wolf Designs is Greenspiration Home American Made “Pick-of-the-Week!”
Customization Niche Keeps Furniture Manufacturer Competitive
(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) October, 12, 2011 - We didn’t want to choose a piece of furniture from Black Wolf Designs for our Greenspiration Home Pick-of-the-Week. It was just too hard because we liked everything they make! We did, however, finally settle on this massive solid wood hutch painted in Brick Red because, if you haven’t noticed, we’ve been a little obsessed with red ever since the Emmy Awards. Besides, we thought this made a nice compliment to the bar stool we chose last week.
Exquisite detail and hand rubbed finishes set this Wisconsin furniture maker apart from others. If it doesn’t look mass produced, it’s because it isn’t. Each and every piece the company makes is custom made. That doesn’t mean you can’t have this lovely hutch. It just means you can have it in any color or size you like.
Customization Key To Survival
Filling this custom made niche for designers and independent-minded homeowners has kept this 15-year-old company afloat during the last several years.
“We would have closed our doors years ago if we hadn’t adjusted to the market. So, instead of waiting for the sky to fall, we started looking for smarter ways to do business,” said Sarah McAninch, Sales and Customer Service Manager. This included revamping their website to showcase all their countless creations.
From chairs to massive armoires and entertainment centers, Black Wolf builds it all, usually working through designers. If a homeowner doesn’t have a designer, the website includes designers that Black Wolf works with throughout the country. If there isn’t a designer near you, you’re still in luck. Black Wolf will consult with you directly. Try getting that degree of attention from an importer.
Simple Sustainability
Black Wolf’s approach to sustainability is really quite simple. Don’t build anything that anyone in their right mind would want to throw away. The company also uses domestically grown hardwood – especially alder – a species that grows faster than it can be harvested. Sawdust goes to the horse farms down the road.
