Symposium and New Report on Corporate Political Spending Announced by The Conference Board
The Conference Board Committee on Corporate Political Spending
(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) October 5, 2011 - The Conference Board today announced that its Committee on Corporate Political Spending will host a public symposium Thursday, October 20 on the topic of corporate political spending. At this event, the committee — chaired by Merck and Microsoft, with representatives from Campbell Soup Company, Exelon Corporation, Pfizer Inc., and Prudential Financial, Inc. — will release a new report on the topic of transparency and accountability in corporate political spending that will focus on suggested policies and practices that companies can consider when engaging in political activity.
The symposium on corporate political spending will be held at The Waldorf=Astoria in New York City. This complimentary symposium (registration required) will cover a range of key issues on the topic of corporate political spending, including the legal framework after Citizens United, current shareholder perspectives, and current and emerging corporate practices related to the governance of corporate political spending. The symposium is geared toward corporate executives responsible for government relations, corporate governance, investor relations, corporate social responsibility, public affairs, and other corporate executives interested in better understanding the topic of corporate political spending.
