Taproot Foundation Joins IMPACT 2030 as a Founding Stakeholder to Support U.N. Sustainable Development Goals
Engaging employees in pro bono service is an impactful way to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Taproot brings expertise in mobilizing corporate skilled volunteers to deliver critical resources to nonprofits.
NEW YORK, October 18, 2016 /3BL Media/ – The Taproot Foundation joins IMPACT 2030 as a Founding Stakeholder to work together with other leaders in the volunteer and corporate social responsibility communities, to bring the skills of business professionals to address the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
IMPACT 2030 is a global private sector led collaboration created to mobilize corporate volunteers to directly and substantially contribute to the achievement of the SDGs. Taproot Foundation has been a leader in connecting skilled volunteers to the nonprofit and social change community, giving these organizations full access—through pro bono service—to the marketing, strategy, HR, and IT resources these organizations need to be most effective.
Taproot has designed and delivered pro bono programs for over 60 Fortune 500 and other companies that leverage employees’ skills to address critical societal problems. In addition to work in the U.S., Taproot, along with the BMW Foundation, is the co-founder of the Global Pro Bono Network, a thriving community of social entrepreneurs from 30 countries who are committed to developing pro bono programs across the globe. A collective approach to tackling the SDGs through pro bono service is on the agenda for the Global Pro Bono Network’s annual gathering, the Global Pro Bono Summit, to be held in Lisbon on March 7-10, 2017. Through this work, Taproot brings an understanding of the cultural and regional differences in corporate volunteer programs from around the world.
“Taproot has been bringing critical resources into the nonprofit sector to address some of the toughest societal challenges for almost 15 years. This partnership gives us the opportunity to collaborate with many of our peers to tackle these same problems, including poverty, hunger, sanitation, and clean water on a global scale,” says Liz Hamburg, President & CEO of Taproot Foundation.
“IMPACT 2030 is delighted to welcome Taproot Foundation as a Founding Stakeholder. The skill, experience, and in-depth knowledge in and around pro bono work that Taproot brings to our network is essential to our mission,” says Dr. Tauni Lanier, Executive Director of IMPACT 2030.
Taproot is pleased to join this effort along with other Founding Stakeholders including UN Volunteers, Points of Light, IAVE, Grameen Foundation, PYXERA Global, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. In addition, Taproot looks forward to working with Founding Corporate Partners including UPS, Google, Realized Worth, GSK, Chevron, Dow Chemical, PwC, Pfizer, and Grant Thornton.
