Time Warner Cable and Homeboy Industries Cook Up Some Holiday Fun

During the holiday season, Time Warner Cable and HOLA, a TWC employee network partnered with Home Boy Industries to bring the first “Tamalada” (a tamale party) benefiting those they serve in the City of Los Angeles.

The “Tamalda” was put together by over 50 TWC employee volunteers who got a lesson on how to make handmade tamales from scratch. Employees made over 100 tamales, which were then gifted to the trainees (formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women) to take home to their families this holiday season.

The evening included a tour of the Home Boy Industries facility where employees were able to interact and hear stories of transformation by the trainees themselves. “Hearing their story inspired me so much, it was truly heartwarming, almost brought me to tears,” said Jackie Coco-Ford, a TWC Employee.

Our employees helped make this event possible and had a meaningful impact in the community. The Home Boy Industries Tamalada event was an excellent opportunity for our employees to celebrate Diversity & Inclusion and give back through volunteering in the community.

Home Boy Industries provides hope, training and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community. Each year over 10,000 former gang members from across Los Angeles come through the Homeboy Industries’ doors in an effort to make a positive change.
