Together, we are ON Semiconductor, a hashtag and slogan our communications team launched, which has turned into a global campaign. One that continues to unify our company and push our team towards success, despite the trying circumstances that our team and industry have had to overcome this past year. Our collective efforts have awarded us in being named “Gold Stevie® Winner for Company of the Year – Manufacturing – Large” for the second consecutive year in the 2021 American Business Awards®, a premier business award program.
The award reaffirms our employees’ dedication to improving across various business facets such as employee wellness, diversity and inclusion, sustainable business practices and the company’s overall financial strength. The below paragraphs point to the achievements our team is proud of and that won us the recognition of the American Business Awards.
Throughout the pandemic, our business continuity team worked diligently to ensure employees’ health and safety and that sites followed local government pandemic guidelines.
In 2019, our commitment to sustainable business practices and our plant enabled our team to process and sell 910,000 kilograms of scrap materials and 1,375 kilograms of precious metals. Additionally, the company recycled 14,958,208 kilograms of waste from our global sites, which roughly equates to 485 adult Humpback whales, the eighth heaviest animal on the planet.
The company’s continued dedication led to being one of the 325 companies across 50 industries to be included in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index. In 2020, our company was named to Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable Companies for the third consecutive year, moving up to number 15 from 59 in 2019. Ethisphere recognized ON Semiconductor as one of the 2021 World’s Most Ethical Companies for the sixth consecutive year. Our company was also named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) North America for the third year in a row and the Most Sustainable Company in the Semiconductor Industry by World Finance Magazine.
In addition, we continue to make internal progress to benefit our employees. Our company introduced a new internal resource for employees called, “The Bridge”, which focuses on helping employees feel at home and adjust while they are relocated or temporarily working in a new culture and environment. The company also sponsored a virtual responsibility and inclusion week that highlighted and celebrated employee accomplishments while raising awareness of several important topics such as mental health and managing stress during the pandemic. Cha shares below about her work in environmental health and safety and how she works to establish safe, ethical business practices that benefit the company and our employees.
When employees are asked why they work at our company, the majority will respond, “because of the people.” We are fortunate to have created a global, supportive, close-knit culture that enables us to continue achieving our aggressive growth goals while providing our employees with development and growth opportunities along the way.
