July 20, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Points of Light, a global nonprofit organization that inspires, equips and mobilizes millions of people to take action with its global network in 38 countries, presented the Fast Start Award at their conference held on July 14-16, 2021. Turkey Impact Council Chair Arzu Demirel said, “We are honored with this global award. It shows that we are on the right path with what we have done so far. We are related to all sustainable development goals (SDGs) at the Turkey Impact Council. However, we selected one orienting goal to expand our reach and impact through collective action. Our goal is gender equality, empowering women and girls. I sincerely believe that with the power of volunteering, we can achieve a significant change together on the path of equality.”

Turkey Impact Council is among 6 Regional Councils launched by IMPACT2030 which is a global network in corporate volunteering. Turkey Impact Council brings together private and civic society, academia, and UN. Turkey Impact Council developed its strategy based on the results of capacity mapping project which showed SDGs supported by the employees, current situation and potential of corporate volunteering in Turkey. The Turkey Impact Council was awarded for its success in implementing the principles of excellence. Points of Light has developed Principles of Excellence for Corporate Volunteer Councils to better serve developing and well-established CVCs. It is Points of Light’s goal that these Principles will serve as benchmarks for CVCs, guiding their work to improve and expand their organization.
