UN Global Compact and B Lab to Develop Online Platform for Companies to Manage Their Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals
UNITED NATIONS, N.Y., February 26, 2019 /3BL Media/ — The United Nations Global Compact together with B Lab will develop a new online platform for companies around the world to manage their progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The publicly available tool — to be launched in 2020 — will allow business to assess, compare and improve their performance against the Global Goals. It will provide them with access to online resources on sustainable business and give them an opportunity to benchmark against peers and key indicators.
"We are excited about this collaboration with B Lab to help companies better assess and manage their progress on the Sustainable Development Goals,” said Lise Kingo, CEO & Executive Director of the UN Global Compact. “The new platform will help businesses incorporate the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact into their strategies and operations.”
“Our B Impact Assessment and the UN Global Compact’s expertise are a natural fit in enabling all companies looking to manage their social and environmental performance to benefit from the SDG perspective,” says Bart Houlahan, Co-Founder from B Lab.
The platform will feature select metrics from the B Impact Assessment that have been mapped to the SDGs, supplemented by new performance measures developed with expert input from the UN Global Compact and partners. The initiative is supported by Emmanuel Faber, Canada's International Development Research Centre, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Skoll Foundation and the UK Department for International Development.
Companies and organizations interested in contributing to the development of the platform as contributors or beta testers are asked to contact B Lab via this form.
