United Way of Monroe County Honors Sanofi Pasteur and the Sanofi Foundation for North America with 2015 Mattioli Philanthropy Award

Tannersville, Pa., June 9, 2015 /3BL Media/ -- At today’s United Way of Monroe County annual meeting breakfast, the United Way of Monroe County presented the 2015 Mattioli Philanthropy Award - Organization Recipient - to Sanofi Pasteur and the Sanofi Foundation for North America. The Mattioli Philanthropy Award recognizes an organization and/or individual that has provided exemplary benevolence, goodwill, leadership and generosity of time, talent and treasure to Monroe County.

Sanofi Pasteur and the Sanofi Foundation for North America were selected in recognition for their commitment to the United Way of Monroe County, as well as the larger United Way movement. Ellyn Schindler, director, Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Engagement, accepted the award on behalf of the company and the Foundation/Sanofi Corporate Responsibility North America.

Specifically, Sanofi Pasteur – together with its employees – has been the largest contributor to the United Way’s annual campaign for more than a decade. In 2014, employee donations, supplemented by a dollar-for-dollar-match by Sanofi Pasteur and the Sanofi Foundation for North America, resulted in a record-breaking company campaign, with $283,167 credited specifically for the United Way of Monroe County.

To complement this ongoing financial support, Sanofi Pasteur and its employees – including its senior leadership -- also contribute to the United Way of Monroe County through volunteerism and participation on several of the United Way’s local boards and committees. In particular, Dale Parisi, vice president, Human Resources, Commercial Operations, Vaccines, Americas, has served as a member of the United Way of Monroe County’s board of directors for more than 13 years. The company’s employees are also collectively the largest participant in the United Way’s Day of Caring volunteerism event.

“Sanofi Pasteur is not only the largest contributor to the United Way of Monroe County, but also an incredible asset to the entire county. I am genuinely grateful for their presence in the community and their role as a philanthropic and public health leader,” said Michael Albert, executive director, United Way of Monroe County. “In this new role I am excited to partner with Sanofi Pasteur in raising funds, awareness and support for community services in Monroe County.”

From a broader perspective, Sanofi Pasteur supports the United Way and its partner agencies through programs such as the Pocono Mountains Community Fundraiser. This initiative has raised more than $1.6 million for critical non-profit organizations in Monroe County since its inception, the vast majority of which are United Way of Monroe County member agencies.
