U.S. Department of Energy Honors Ingersoll Rand With Better Practice Award for Cutting Energy Use by 50 Percent
November 13, 2018 /3BL Media/ - U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded Ingersoll Rand® a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, a 2018 Better Practice award for energy management initiatives that reduced energy consumption by 50 percent at its Trane® HVAC manufacturing plant in Waco.
“Thanks to employees who create a culture of continuous improvement every day, we’re building a more sustainable future,” said Douglas Dickinson, vice president of Trane’s commercial business in North America, Europe and Middle East. “Our commitment to the environment extends from products and services to help customers increase energy efficiency in buildings to reducing energy use and emissions at our own operations.”
Presented to Ingersoll Rand at the Better Buildings Summit in Cleveland, Ohio, the Better Practice award recognizes outstanding accomplishments in energy management among members of its U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Plants Program.
The energy efficiency program at the Trane plant in Waco supports Ingersoll Rand’s Global Climate Commitment to increase energy efficiency across its operations by 10 percent and reduce the greenhouse gas footprint of its own operations by 35 percent by 2020.
The Waco facility doubled the facility’s energy productivity, cut electricity costs by 70 percent, and reduced energy consumption by more than 50 percent, while facility output has increased. The team in Waco envisions reaching grid neutrality by 2020.
