Volkswagen Group of America’s Young Professionals Employee Resource Group supports Fauquier Habitat for Humanity building a new home
25 members of the Volkswagen Group of America Young Professionals Employee Resource Group (YP ERG) supported Fauquier Habitat for Humanity to construct a new home for a young couple and their Labrador mix in Huntly, Va.
The YP ERG members used their volunteer day, a company provided paid day off to serve in the community, to install windows and doors, add structural elements and raise a shed.
“We are proud seeing Volkswagen Group of America employees, especially these young professionals who are at the beginning of their careers, caring so deeply about our neighborhoods,” said Machelle Williams, Senior Director Diversity and CSR, VWGoA. “We strongly believe that our employees can really make a difference and want to support them in their chosen charitable projects.”
Furthermore, the YP ERG took advantage of the company’s Dollars for Doers program which corresponds to an about $5,000 donation which VWGoA will make to Fauquier Habitat for Humanity. Dollars for Doers is a VWGoA initiative which allows employees who volunteer a minimum of eight hours per calendar year with a qualifying charitable organization to earn $250 for that organization.
VWGoA encourages employees nationwide to participate year-round in community service and volunteer efforts through its internal “Get Involved” campaign and supports this through initiatives like matching employee donations and providing employees with a volunteer day.
