DETROIT, Sept. 22, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan has received a significant technology upgrade to its NFL-YET Detroit Club at the Dauch Campus thanks to funding by Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) provided through CBS EcoMedia’s EducationAd program. More than 1,700 club members will now have access to a newly outfitted technology lab, with upgrades such as 12 new computer stations, printers, computer accessories, digital microscope kits and one year of Internet access.

The new technology lab will be presented at a special ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Sept. 25 at 4:30 PM at the Club, located on Tireman Street. Len Krichko, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, Josh Sobel, Director of Sales and Business Development for CBS EcoMedia, and WCCCD Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Services Donnell Mason will be in attendance.

WCCCD is the largest urban community college district in Michigan, serving nearly 72,000 students annually across 32 cities and townships, and more than 500 square miles. The existing technology at the Dauch Campus was eight years old. Thanks to WCCCD’s funding, the acquired state-of-the-art educational tools will support education in information technology and enhance college readiness.

Since 1926, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan (BGCSM) has provided high quality programs for young persons in our community. Today, they serve more than 14,000 children (ages 6-18) every year through their many programs and events.

“We are thrilled to partner with EcoMedia and Boys & Girls Clubs on this vital initiative to help provide new and better tools to young people in our community,” stated WCCCD Chancellor Dr. Curtis L. Ivery.  “Our mission at WCCCD has always been to provide pathways to better lives through higher education, and we understand that involves having access to technology that works at the speed of young people’s minds.”

“Access to technology is an integral part of preparing our youth for college and career success,” said Paul Polizzotto, President and Founder of CBS EcoMedia. “With the support of WCCCD, Club members at Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan will continue to build the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.”

“Boys & Girls Clubs is committed to the academic success of our Club members,” said Krichko. “Providing access to state-of-the-art computers and the Internet allows members to complete homework assignments after school and allows them to develop critical computer skills they need today and will need in their future.”
