What Do You Dare to Repair?

Think about it: how many things have you discarded because a simple part—a knob, a latch, a piece you can’t even name but it makes the whole thing work—breaks and you don’t have any idea where to get a replacement part? For many of us, it’s more things than we’d ever want to admit. Especially those of us who spend our personal and professional lives working to make the world more sustainable. But the great news is that 3D printing is changing this paradigm.

Today, HP is launching a 3D printed repair parts contest with iFixit, Ikea and Philips to open source easy fixes for common consumer products. The ultimate goal is to keep more things in the use and reuse phase much, much longer.

The contest is open to everyone, novice to expert. The more people we have thinking and tinkering in this space, the faster we can get to a more circular lifestyle that’s better for all of us, and for everyone that follows.

So as you go about your daily routine, think about the things you use most frequently and what you would do if it didn’t work. Then think about all the people you know who love to tinker, fix and create. Let’s bring these people, products and ideas together and Dare to Repair for a better world.
