Whirlpool Employees Build in Haiti For 29th Annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project
Whirlpool employees ventured to Haiti to help build homes for those in need, as part of the 29th annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project through Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). The build helped Haitian families who were left homeless after the 2010 earthquake.
This is the second year in a row that the Carter Work Project is traveling to Léogâne, Haiti, in an effort to strengthen and support HFHI work in Haiti. Léogâne is 18 miles from Port-au-Prince and is considered to be the epicenter location of the earthquake.
Since the Carter Work Project volunteers were last in Haiti, extensive progress has been made in rebuilding the infrastructure and government, but 400,000 people still live in camp. Whirlpool contributed to the build through employee volunteers and product donation of appliances.
