Wildlife Habitat Council Recognizes Freeport-McMoRan with two Environmental Excellence Awards
January 15, 2013 /3BL Media/ - The Wildlife Habitat Council recently recognized Freeport-McMoRan with two awards for excellence in wildlife habitat enhancement, restoration, and community outreach and education efforts.
The Company received the Council’s highest honor – the prestigious William W. Howard Conservation Education and Outreach Award, which recognized the entire Freeport-McMoRan organization for its combined efforts to develop and implement wildlife-based educational curriculum and to provide opportunities for its employees and surrounding communities to experience the natural world.
PT Freeport Indonesia, a Freeport-McMoRan company, received the Council’s Corporate Lands for Learning Rookie of the Year Award, which recognized an outstanding, single newly-certified environmental education program that involves employees and the community.
Both award categories require nominees to demonstrate exemplary wildlife practices and approaches, and sustained education and outreach efforts.
The Wildlife Habitat Council works with corporations to create voluntary wildlife habitat enhancement and conservation education programs at company’s areas of operations.
