(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) Palo Alto, CA - October 5, 2010 - World Centric’s diverse line of fully compostable products has now grown into the retail sector. World Centric has launched their retail line of certified compostable plates, bowls and utensils at over 1,000 stores nationwide. Consumers can purchase the environmentally sustainable line at Whole Foods, Cost Plus World Market, Mollie Stone’s, Andronico’s, Gelson’s, Bristol Farms, Akins, Chamberlin’s, select Ace Hardware stores, and a multitude of other retail outlets. The World Centric retail line is also available online at Amazon.com and Drugstore.com, as well as in the Plow and Hearth Catalog.
The high quality, sturdy soak-proof plates and bowls are made from discarded wheat straw fiber and are gluten free. Wheat straw fiber is a by-product typically burned as waste, causing pollution, but has now found added use in World Centric’s compostable product line. The aesthetically pleasing top of the line utensils are made from non-GMO corn and talc and packaged in 100% post-consumer recycled paperboard. World Centric’s utensils are also currently only one of very few lines available that are completely plastic-free and 100% compostable as certified by strict ASTM-6400 standards. Tom Wittenberg, National Director of Sales and Marketing at World Centric, is delighted to have the retail line available through numerous major retailers and online as it will make it “easier to connect with the consumer regarding the advantages of compostable goods. The best part is that it will help change buying habits for the good of the environment.” Consumers can be assured that they are making the right environmental choice in purchasing World Centric’s compostable products over plastics, Styrofoam, or virgin paper. World Centric is a company that stands behind their mission to reduce economic injustice and environmental degradation. They offset all carbon emissions and donate 25% of profits to grassroots, social, and environmental organizations. For that next picnic or family get-together, using World Centric’s retail line made from plants, not petroleum, can in fact help to make a better world.
