Writing a Code for Success on Comcast Cares Day

At Comcast NBCUniversal, we look to give back to our communities year round and in so many ways, including sharing the excitement and enthusiasm of how technology can strengthen communities and empower people to build better futures.
On Comcast Cares Day 2017, our volunteers in Washington, D.C. – including employees, their friends and families, and a female NASA engineer – spent time at a Boys & Girls Club teaching 9 to 11 year olds how to code and program computers. In the words of the Club’s regional vice president, Mike McDonald, "By showing them that they can actually program a computer rather than just go online and on the internet is really an opportunity that they wouldn’t really have." Read this blog here to learn what volunteering at this project meant to one of our employees, Tabitha Williams, who leads our Washington-area Black Employee Network, one of our many employee resource groups.
