Xylem Employees and Stakeholders Volunteer More Than 12,000 Hours During Global Month of Service
To commemorate Xylem’s anniversary in October, employees and stakeholders around the world came together to provide and protect safe water resources for communities in need and to educate people about water issues during the annual Global Month of Service. This year, 3,913 volunteers logged 12,862 hours to a variety of projects, including cleanups, educational events, and several fundraisers and stakeholder events, including:
- The Sensus team in China hosted a Plogging event, picking up more than 500 lbs of trash. The Xylem Dublin office also set up a Lunchtime Plogging station, equipped with gloves, trash bags and litter pickers to encourage lunchtime trash pick-up throughout the month.
- The Sensus Atlanta team kicked off Month of Service with a canoe clean-up of the Chattahoochee River in collaboration with the National Park Service.
- The Xylem Water Solutions UK & Ireland team hosted a Cycle for Water event to raise awareness about the fact that many women and girls around the world have to walk an average of four miles a day to collect water for their families.
- A team of Xylem employees worked with a customer and China Women’s Development foundation to donate in-kind water treatment equipment to a village and school they installed drinking water devices. At the school, they also educated 200 students about water technology, and did demonstrations of water testing to show students how to test if their water is safe to drink.
From educating children on the water crisis to hosting Walks for Water that raise awareness for water issues, the Global Month of Service exemplifies how Xylem and its partners make a difference in the places where they live and work.
