The Curt Bergfors Foundation
The Curt Bergfors Foundation was established in 2019 by Swedish philanthropist and hospitality entrepreneur Curt Bergfors. The foundation's mission is to support a rapid transition to a sustainable global food system through research grants, awards, and information campaigns. B4Plastics and GreenWave are given the 2021 Curt Bergfors Food Planet Prize for their development of materials for biodegradable fishing gear and sustainable ocean-based food production, respectively. Each prize amounts to $2 million. This means that the world's biggest environmental award is all about food.
