Nearly 3.5 Million More People Improve Their Housing Conditions with Habitat for Humanity

In the past year, thanks to generous donors and more than 2.1 million volunteers, Habitat for Humanity helped nearly 3.5 million people around the world build or improve an affordable place they can call home. Daddy Yankee to Raise $1.5 Million for Habitat for Humanity’s Hurricane Recovery Efforts in Puerto Rico

In response to the tragic devastation caused by Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico native, rapper, producer and “Despacito” singer Daddy Yankee has pledged a personal donation of $250,000 and to raise an additional $1.5 million toward Habitat for Humanity’s plans to help Puerto Ricans repair and rebuild in the aftermath of the storm.

On National Day of Service, Jonathan and Drew Scott Urge Support of Habitat Hammers Back Hurricane Recovery Initiative

Jonathan and Drew Scott are urging support of Habitat for Humanity’s response to Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma in a new public service announcement out today. Through the Habitat Hammers Back initiative, the global housing nonprofit is assisting families in Texas and has begun assessing damages in Florida and the Caribbean.

Habitat Hammers Back: Habitat for Humanity Mobilizes Harvey Response, Calls for Support

Habitat is deploying Mobile Response Units and Disaster Corps volunteers to the region to begin rapid assessments as flood waters recede. There are about 30 local Habitat for Humanity offices throughout the parts of southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana affected by the storms. With their help, Habitat for Humanity International is assessing the shelter and housing needs in areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey and developing response options.

In addition to long-term housing repair and construction, Habitat’s response will include organizing volunteers and resources to help with the cleanup and mucking out homes damaged by wind and flood waters.
