Booz Allen Executive VP Angie Messer Named a Woman of Influence by the Executive Women’s Forum

Booz Allen Hamilton executive vice president Angie Messer has been named a “Woman of Influence” by the Executive Women’s Forum (EWF). The distinction is given to four women each year in recognition of their “accomplishments and leadership roles in the fields of Information Security, Risk Management and Privacy.” The 2017 awards were given at the 15th Annual EWF National Conference held in Scottsdale, Arizona.

SC Johnson Argentina Named Best Workplace for 14th Time

SC Johnson today announced SC Johnson Argentina has been recognized as a 2017 Best Workplace by the Great Place to Work® Institute. The organization ranked fourth on the list of Best Medium-Sized Multinational Companies in the country. The win in Argentina is SC Johnson’s 17th Best Workplace recognition in 2017.

With Growing Community Garden Initiative, Teen Tackles Hunger and Obesity in Missouri

Sophie Bernstein always wanted to grow her own garden. At 12 years old, she was looking for a meaningful project to complete for her bat mitzvah – something that would serve a larger purpose and help the community. Sophie realized she had the perfect opportunity to start her garden, while also benefitting others by donating the crops that her garden produced to the local food bank. She had no idea where that project would take her.

Visa Recognized in Top Diversity and Inclusion Indexes

This week, Visa received recognition from two notable organizations, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) and Diversity Best Practices (DBP), a division of Working Mother Media, for the company’s work in championing diversity and inclusion in the workplace. HRC announced that Visa received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality.

Chef Miranda Rosenfelt took home the top honor last night at DC Central Kitchen’s signature fundraising event, Capital Food Fight, presented by Smithfield Foods. Local chefs Douglas Alexander of Art and Soul, Hamilton Johnson of Honeysuckle, Bobby Pradachith of Thip Khao, and Miranda Rosenfelt of Sally’s Middle Name went head-to-head in a thrilling culinary battle. Nationally recognized celebrities Washington Nationals’ Ryan Zimmerman, TV personality Adam Richman, political analyst Ana Navarro, and New York-based Chef Joseph “JJ” Johnson judged the competition, while event founder and chair José Andrés of ThinkFoodGroup and chef and restaurateur Spike Mendelsohn co-hosted the annual event alongside Food Network’s Tregaye Fraser and Fanny Slater.
