Today and every day, I salute all the quiet voices like Henrietta Lacks, who will never be formally recognized for her contribution to modern day medicine, but will always play a role with impacting our future. I also salute those like Angela Rye, who have the voice and courage to narrate and raise the volume on injustice in the world. There are countless others who are paving the way or have paved by leaving an indelible mark, not just for Black History, but American History.

Comcast Offsets More Than 95% of Energy Usage with New Solar Project

Comcast recently announced the completion of a 1,170-panel carport solar installation that will help power its regional call center in Plymouth, Mass. The system will generate enough onsite clean energy — as much as 600,000 kilowatt hours of power annually — to offset more than 95% of the facility’s annual energy consumption.

Honesty Is the Best Policy When Talking About the SDGs

At Tetra Pak we’ve committed to support all of the 17 Goals, and in 2017, we spent eight months on a rigorous material assessment identifying and prioritising those aspects of our business where we could have the greatest economic, environmental and social impacts and/or could substantively influence stakeholder decisions. Sustainability has always been at the core of our promise to protect food, people and futures. That is to say, we are not new to this, and we’ve been looking at the science of environment for decades – but aligning to the SDG’s has enabled us to expand and evolve our approach.

Schneider Sustainability Impact 2018-2020 Has Exceeded Its Target Score of 5/10 for 2018, Achieving 6.10/10

For the fourth year, Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, announces its financial and non-financial results together for the fourth quarter of 2018. Each quarter, Schneider Electric publishes 21 indicators from the Schneider Sustainability Impact, measuring progress towards its ambitious sustainability commitments for 2018 to 2020, in line with the COP 21 and United Nations objectives. With a total score of 6.10 out of 10 at end-December 2018, the Group has exceeded its Schneider Sustainability Impact target of 5 out of 10 for the end of 2018.

Taproot Foundation Releases State of Pro Bono: Corporate Edition

As the field of pro bono service continues to grow, companies increasingly identify pro bono programming as a critical element of their overall social impact objectives. Taproot Foundation conducted an inaugural survey of companies doing pro bono to collect data on their programs, identify trends, and share key observations for advancing the field. This resource provides information to help practitioners compare their program design and outcomes to peers in the field, and to support them as they achieve greater impact through pro bono service.
