Dow Joins Forces with Erb Institute | Business for Sustainability to Expand Sustainability Literacy through Online Education Series

In celebration of Earth Day, The Dow Chemical Company and the Erb Institute of University of Michigan are partnering to host the inaugural Elements of Sustainability Series, a free online education event taking place April 16-20, with webinars posted daily at 3 p.m. ET. The week-long webinar series will explore the fundamentals of sustainability as seven renowned academics share their expert insights on the leading global challenges shaping the future of business, society and sustainability.

Tyson Foods Donates Over $240,000 and Truckload of Protein to Kansas Food Bank

Tyson Foods today announced a $242,069 donation to the Kansas Food Bank to fund improvements to the food bank’s warehouse, an updated online ordering system and the purchase of a tractor and trailer. The company also donated a truckload of protein to the food bank totaling 32,340 pounds.

Xylem Guelph Walks for Water

Xylem’s site in Guelph, Ontario conducted a Walk for Water on April 10th as part of Xylem Watermark’s Make Your Mark 30 Day Challenge. Volunteers carried 4-liter jugs of water while walking a 5 km route to bring attention to the issues of water scarcity in many countries and to try to understand what millions of people around the world must do to obtain clean water for their families and homes. The walk ended at the Guelph Food Bank, where the volunteers donated their jugs of water.

FCA US Invites Automotive Suppliers to Take Their Best Shot in “Pitch Pit”

In conjunction with SAE, FCA US will set up “Pitch Pit” April 10 – 11, 2018. There, in private meetings with FCA US purchasing and engineering representatives, suppliers who might not otherwise have such an opportunity will tout their innovations and products in an energetic setting.

Q&A with Women Who Code’s Jennifer Tacheff on Women in Tech

Women of Silicon Valley brought together industry trailblazers last month to share their stories on the importance of female role models within the tech sphere. A significant discussion at the conference centered around creating strategies for addressing the gender gap, measuring the effectiveness of diversity and inclusion policies, and the need to push this topic to the forefront of business cultures. VMware had the opportunity to speak with conference presenter Jennifer Tacheff, vice president of partnerships and growth at Women Who Code, on her career journey and what it means to her to get more women involved in tech. Nestlé Aims at 100% Recyclable or Reusable Packaging by 2025

Nestlé today announced its ambition to make 100% of its packaging recyclable or re-usable by 2025. Its vision is that none of its packaging, including plastics, ends up in landfill or as litter. Nestlé believes that there is an urgent need to minimize the impact of packaging on the environment.

The Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce celebrated over 11 years as a local chamber of diversity during its annual Awards and Recognition Gala on March 10, 2018 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fairfield.
