Federal Express Corporation, one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has expanded its zero-tailpipe emissions fleet with the addition of 17 electric trucks.
Climate change is a risk management challenge for society, with uncertain but potentially severe outcomes affecting natural and human systems, across generations. Managing climate-related risks will be more difficult without a base of knowledge and practice aimed at identifying and evaluating specific risks, and their likelihood and consequences, as well as potential actions to promote resilience in the face of these risks. We suggest three improvements to the process of conducting climate change assessments to better characterize risk and inform risk management actions.
Subaru is sponsoring a Zero Landfill Initiative in the Denali Borough, and a group of local teen ambassadors were on hand to share information and recycled bags with signers of the pledge. They are spearheading the effort in local schools and sharing recycling information with the community.
Sustainability Coordinator Margaret Wilson said, for a long time, Grand Teton was like most state parks – they didn’t have money or staff to devote to recycling. Then they joined the Zero Landfill Initiative – a pilot project to try and divert most of the waste generated inside national parks. Wilson said part of that is educating tourists.
