“In the Eye of the Forgotten Storm” Tells First-Hand Stories of Rebuilding Southwest Louisiana in the Aftermath of Hurricane Rita

Today, CITGO Petroleum Corporation memorializes the story of CITGO Lake Charles’ first responders’ efforts to rebuild their community in the aftermath of Hurricane Rita with a new book and accompanying documentary, entitled “In the Eye of the Forgotten Storm.” Joined by community leaders, employees and many others who were on the ground during the storm, CITGO is hosting a screening of the documentary and sharing copies of the book with employees as part of company efforts to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Rita. The book will be available for purchase at MT Publishing.

Mars Opens Global Food Safety Center to Help Solve Challenges of Feeding the World

Convening governments, Associates and industry peers, Mars, Incorporated held the grand opening of the Global Food Safety Center in Huairou China on September 24, 2015. A pioneering, $15 million facility, the Mars Global Food Safety Center aims to raise global food safety standards through pre-competitive research and training. We believe that addressing food safety challenges will lead to better access, availability and nutrition, reducing food waste and increasing overall quality of life for generations of families around the world. But we can’t do it alone. The Mars Global Food Safety Center calls on academics, governments, NGOs and our competitors to partner with us and collaborate on this research because safer food benefits us all.

As part of a new partnership between 20th Century Fox and UNICEF, the familiar characters from the upcoming Blue Sky Studios film The Peanuts Movie will help raise funds for the organization this fall. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and more will appear in ads and resources for the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign, a national initiative encouraging kids to ask for donations to UNICEF as they go door-to-door on Halloween.
