Global outdoor lifestyle brand Timberland today released “KOMBIT: The Cooperative,” a documentary film chronicling a five-year project to reforest Haiti in partnership with the Smallholder Farmers Alliance (SFA), a Haitian nonprofit farmer cooperative dedicated to feeding and reforesting the country.

700 Freshmen at George Washington High School Make Commitment to Complete in 4 Years at ‘Reverse Graduation’

George Washington High School in Northeast Philadelphia is calling on its 700 freshmen to make a public commitment to themselves, their families, and their communities, to graduate in four years. George Washington hosted its ‘Reverse Graduation’ for 9th graders, during which each freshman, dressed in cap and gown, will cross the stage and promise to make the necessary personal investments to complete their secondary education.

Joining the family and community members gathered to support the freshmen was global food, facilities and uniform industry leader Aramark (NYSE ARMK), who will stand alongside the school’s young people and match their pledge by providing a three year, $300,000 grant to PAI to build a hospitality industry pipeline.

Citi Announces $190,000 Donation to Four New York City Area Community Organizations Through the 2015 Citi Community Home Runs Program

Citi today announced a total donation of $190,000 to four community partners – City Harvest, United Neighborhood Houses, USO of Metro New York and New York City’s YMCA – through the Citi Community Home Runs Program. Ed Skyler, Citi’s Head of Global Public Affairs, and Mets outfielder and program ambassador Curtis Granderson marked the completion of the second season of the home runs program with a ceremonial check presentation to representatives from the four community organizations at the Union Square Citibank branch in New York City.

Rebuilding Together and Lowe’s Host Fifth Annual Building a Healthy Neighborhood

Rebuilding Together — a leading national nonprofit in safe and healthy housing that provides low-income homeowners with critical home repairs — will join together with its affiliate, Rebuilding Together St. Louis, to lead its fifth annual Building a Healthy Neighborhood community revitalization project. The effort, supported by lead partner Lowe’s and 275 of its Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteers, will be held in St. John, a small community in St. Louis County, this October 8–10, and is expected to provide more than $760,000 in market value back to the community.
