James M. Cox Foundation Announces $2.5 Million Grant to Support Early Childhood Education at Charles R. Drew Charter School

The James M. Cox Foundation announced a five-year $2.5 million grant to the East Lake Foundation to further early childhood education through Charles R. Drew Charter School. The program is based in the East Lake community and serves as a research and design site for the Atlanta Speech School’s Cox Campus, which provides free access to research-based professional development courses and e-coaching tools for thousands of early childhood teachers in Georgia and beyond.

Slamson and VSP Vision Care President, Kate Renwick-Espinosa encourage the Sacramento community to donate their gently-used glasses at the annual Sacramento Kings Eyes of Hope Eyewear Donation Drive on Good Day Sacramento. VSP will be collecting gently-used eyewear at the Sacramento Kings game on Monday, March 14. For each pair of glasses donated, VSP will donate a comprehensive eye-exam and new glasses to someone in need!

This summer, students in the Philadelphia area will explore the science behind their favorite sports when GSK Science in the Summer™ returns to local libraries for its 31st year. GSK Science in the Summer™ is a free and fun science enrichment program for elementary students, sponsored by GSK and administered by The Franklin Institute. This year, the program will introduce a new course for the first time in more than a decade – the Science of Sports. 30 Pacific Northwest Leaders Unite for Points of Light Conference on Volunteering and Service

Points of Light announced today that a dynamic group of influential Pacific Northwest leaders will serve as Host Committee members for the annual Conference on Volunteering and Service to be held June 19-21 in the Emerald City. Convened by Points of Light, the event provides the singular opportunity for nonprofit, government, business and civic leaders to learn, connect and shape the future of volunteerism, and draws approximately 3,500 participants from 37 countries, including the United States.
