From a parts warehouse in Talegaon, India to an Ontario assembly plant, many animals make GM lands their home. Employees take notice, capturing images for the company’s annual wildlife habitat calendar and photo contest. Last year, nearly 350 photos were submitted from sites certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council. GM is committed to earning such certification at all of its manufacturing plants by 2020 as strengthening biodiversity helps reduce the company’s environmental impact.
Tourists come to Crystal River, Fla., for the manatees, and the manatees come for the springs. Florida’s natural springs average 72 degrees year-round. The clear, cool water, which would be chilly for human swimming, is like a snuggly blanket for the giant marine mammals. The manatees float about the springs and eat copious amounts of sea grasses as if it were a lazy Sunday morning.
The environment wins as the fishing net pollution is reduced. The fishing villages win with access to micro-finance, a cleaner environment, and a bit of extra revenue. Interface wins by increasing the recycled content in its supply chain. Pure triple bottom line goodness.

With wildlife declining by over 58% percent due to habitat loss, Subaru and the National Wildlife Federation are raising awareness of this important issue by creating over 400 new Certified Wildlife Habitats at local schools and spearheading hands-on educational programs.

Keep America Beautiful today announced an average 60 percent reduction in cigarette litter in communities that implemented its Cigarette Litter Prevention Program in 2016, a 10 percent increase over the 2015 program results.
