Booz Allen’s Jennie Brooks Receives San Diego Business Journal Business Women of the Year Award
As Booz Allen’s first female vice president of the San Diego office, Jennie Brooks has a proven track record for leading with purpose, driving growth for clients matched with a strong civic sensibility. On December 27, the San Diego Business Journal named her among its 25 Business Women of the Year for 2018.
Nominees for San Diego Business Women of the Year are “dynamic women business leaders who are making a difference in their workplaces and communities every day,” according to the San Diego Business Journal. “They are business leaders, mentors, and community supporters.”
Jennie joined Booz Allen’s San Diego office 16 years ago as a senior consultant and, through a series of positions of ascending responsibility, became the first female vice president for the office. With a focus on the U.S. Navy’s mission, Jennie’s growing team of engineers, cyber professionals, project managers, and other experts support the Navy Marine Corps community in the region, including the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.
“Booz Allen is stalwart in its purpose, values, and commitment to diversity,” said Jennie. “My story is a living, breathing example of that.”
Making an impact for military clients and in the community
With two grandfathers who were Navy commanders, Jennie has been honored to support Booz Allen’s ongoing work for the Navy and Marine Corps in San Diego. “Every day I learn something new. One of the most exciting aspects of my job is to continue to be challenged in a position of growth.”
Jennie is also a role model for San Diego’s civically engaged employees. She serves as vice chair of the Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation Advisory Board, serves on the boards of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation and AFCEA San Diego, and has led scholarship and mentorship initiatives as president and vice president of Women in Defense San Diego.
“Booz Allen San Diego is a special, remarkable place where exciting things are happening with our clients and community. This recognition is an opportunity to celebrate our impact,” said Jennie. “We deeply appreciate the opportunity to support our Navy Marine Corps clients and community partnerships spanning the USS MIDWAY to Hiring Our Heroes.”
