Franklin Templeton Employees Mentor Young Tech Entrepreneurs
Franklin Templeton’s partnership with Nex Cubed, a leader in early-stage innovation, accelerated in July as employees participated in events supporting technology entrepreneurs.
“I am excited about the increasing diversity represented in the startup ecosystem and Franklin Templeton playing an important role in providing a more inclusive environment that affords more access and opportunities,” said Regina Curry, Chief Diversity Officer, Franklin Templeton.
Franklin Templeton hosted an educational webinar for members of Nex Cubed’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Founder’s Program., These tech entrepreneurs received advice on how to pursue funding from venture capital firms, participating in sessions led by Franklin Templeton experts, including Margaret King, VP, Fintech Partnerships and Corporate Strategic Investment.
In addition, Nex Cubed hosted an HBCU Founder’s Summer Acceleration Program Showcase & Demo Day at its offices in San Francisco. The founders shared business updates, addressed questions and discussed their experiences in the program. Franklin Templeton’s leaders, including Margaret King and Kyle Kamka, FTI Program Manager, participated in the event.
“The event was phenomenal,” said Lindsey Oshita, Chief Accounting Officer, Americas, Franklin Templeton, who also attended the demo day. “It was inspiring to hear from young entrepreneurs who are looking to create new and exciting opportunities for consumers and investors. All of the individuals were thoughtful in their questions. Their enthusiasm and openness to new ideas was contagious and forced me to rethink some of our own approaches to problem-solving.”
In April, Franklin Templeton became a founding partner for Nex Cubed’s HBCU Founder’s Program. As a founding partner, firm helps inform the fintech program offerings and provides hands-on support to the new entrepreneurs through its employees, who serve as mentors and advisors.
