WASHINGTON, D.C., May 9, 2016 /3BL Media/ – PYXERA Global is a proud partner of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce 2016 Sustainability Forum. The Forum will convene tri-sector thought leaders and practitioners to share best practices for unlocking the business value of the circular economy. Laura Asiala, Vice President of Public Affairs and Client Relations, PYXERA Global, will speak on a panel and co-facilitate a working session during the Forum.

“Industry needs a new revolution—and the circular economy is it,” said Asiala.  “According to the US Chamber of Commerce’s recent report on waste, corporations sent more than 342 million metric tons of waste to landfills in 2014. That’s burying resources that could be put to good use if the right kind of value and supply chains were in place. The Circular Economy is good for business—and good for the world.”

Laura Asiala will speak on the plenary panel, Leveraging the Circular Economy to Achieve Sustainable Development with:

  • Carrie Hall, Chief of Communications, UN Global Compact
  • Jessica Long, Managing Director, Accenture Strategy and Sustainability
  • Margaret O'Gorman, President, Wildlife Habitat Council
  • Arlan Peters, Head of Sustainability, Novozymes North America

Asiala will also be co-facilitating the working session called Circular Economy Enablers: Creating the Ecosystem for new Circular Supply Chains with Chris Davidson, Director of Corproate Sustainabilitym WestRock.

“The event begins with the premise that the linear economic model—Take, Make, Waste—is no longer viable,” said Marc DeCourcey, Senior Vice President, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, in his recent article on The New Global Citizen. “The circular economy offers a compelling and coherent framework for systems level redesign in which resources never become waste.”

The Forum will focus on how the circular economy can be applied to some of the world’s most pressing challenges through the Sustainable Development Goals. It will also dive deep into the role and practical application of circular economy business models and disruptive innovations.
