UNCF Dallas Recognizes Kimberly-Clark Foundation for Helping Students Achieve College Success
The Kimberly-Clark Foundation proudly accepted the 2021 Masked Award last month during the Dallas United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Mayor’s Masked Ball. The black-tie gala is an annual signature fundraising event that raises thousands of dollars for North Texas minority students so they can achieve college success.
Every year, UNCF awards more than $100 million in scholarships to students attending UNCF-member institutions, including 37 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). During the 2019-2020 school year, UNCF Dallas awarded 500 students with more than $3 million in scholarships to colleges across the U.S. The Kimberly-Clark Foundation has given more than $675,000 to UNCF through its local Dallas office since 1996, and UNCF honored the foundation with the 2021 Masked Award for its commitment to helping hundreds of students attend college and pursue their dreams.
Kimberly-Clark CEO Mike Hsu thanked UNCF for the award during the virtual gala, but he also said that UNCF deserves recognition for the great work that it does to support our ability to reflect the diversity of the world within our ranks and make lives better for people around the globe.
“While you create opportunities for students, those students eventually create powerful change in the world and within companies like ours,” he said. “Because of the world-class education and leadership experiences at your member institutions and HBCUs across the country, we are lucky to count UNCF scholars and HBCU alumni among our very own teams.”
At Kimberly-Clark, our business success is intricately tied to creating workplaces, communities and experiences where inclusion and diversity is embedded in everything we do, and we are deeply committed to equity, inclusion and parity for people of color and women around the world. Our differences make us unique, and they also make us stronger, in our jobs and in our communities. By working with partners like UNCF, we will create a better world – one education, and one mind at a time.
