Ed Anderson started out with a mission to honor his late friend Dave Thomas. The Wendy’s Founder made it his mission to always give back and did so in a big way when he created the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The Foundation focuses on dramatically increasing adoptions from foster care. Anderson thought, what better way to honor his friend than to ride coast to coast to raise awareness and $1 million to help find forever families for children in foster care.

Anderson started on July 27 in Virginia Beach and ended on October 4 in San Diego where he dipped his tire in the Pacific Ocean. He rode a total of 4,000 miles, made 22 stops along the way to meet adoptive families and recruiters who work to find families for children waiting in foster care.

Right now, there are 107,000 children waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States. The Foundation furnishes grants to adoption agencies across the country to employ adoption recruiters who find homes for children who have been in foster care the longest.

While Ed’s ride is over, it’s not too late to help support children in foster care and Ed’s ride by making a donation. No amount is too small for children who are waiting for their forever homes.
