AEG, LA Kings and LA Galaxy Participate in LA Pride 2022
Led by LA Kings mascot, Bailey, and LA Galaxy Mascot, Cozmo, more than 100 AEG, LA Kings and LA Galaxy staff members marched in LA Pride 2022 on Saturday, June 12, in Los Angeles, CA.
The nation’s second largest Pride parade, returned after a two-year hiatus, and for the first time in more than 50 years was centered in Hollywood, instead of West Hollywood, where the parade had become a regular occurrence.
The theme for this year’s LA Pride parade was Love Your Pride and parade was part of LA Pride’s celebration weekend that also included an official musical event on June 11, LA Pride in the Park, headlined by Christina Aguilera and Brazilian superstar, Anitta.
“Giving the world reason to cheer is at the heart of what we do. To AEG, the LA Kings and LA Galaxy, Pride is synonymous with celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and championing the ideal that equality an absolute and fundamental right,” said Jae Requiro, VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for AEG. “We are proud to once again be a part of the LA Pride parade which gives us a chance to unite with people from all walks of life to shine a light on the need to create sense of belonging for everyone. By being advocates and allies to the Pride community, we can work together to help dispel biases, embrace our differences, encourage economic empowerment, and create greater understanding and equity both within our company and the communities where we operate.”
LA Pride was organized by Christopher Street West and was broadcast live by LA Pride’s longtime media partner KABC-TV/ABC7.
Christopher Street West (CSW), is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, that organized the world’s first permitted parade advocating for gay rights on June 28, 1970, to commemorate the Stonewall Rebellion on Christopher Street in New York City the year prior. Over 50 years later, CSW remains an active voice for the LGBTQ+ community of Greater Los Angeles. While best known for producing the LA Pride Parade & Festival (the second largest Pride celebration in the country) they also organize, sponsor or support community events throughout the year, and work with their nonprofit, philanthropic, and community partners to further diversity, equity, and inclusion.
