Albertsons Companies Earns Top Score on 2024 Disability Equality Index
Company recognized as a 2024 Best Place to Work for People with Disabilities for second consecutive year
July 24, 2024 /3BL/ - Albertsons Companies, Inc. has received a top score of 100 on the Disability Equality Index®, making the company one of the 2024 Best Places to Work for People with Disabilities. The Disability Equality Index is a comprehensive benchmarking tool that helps companies build a roadmap of measurable, tangible actions that they can take to achieve disability inclusion and equality.

Albertsons Cos. is committed to cultivating a diverse workforce and fostering an inclusive culture that embraces differences and provides equal opportunity for all associates in several ways, including:
- Inclusion Index: In 2022, Albertsons Cos. launched a company-wide inclusion index which enables associates to share their individual perspectives and help foster a culture where everyone is treated with courtesy, dignity and respect.
- DiverseABILITY: In 2022, the company launched its eighth associate resource group, DiverseABILITY, which focuses on providing awareness, celebration and opportunities for people with diverse abilities, their caretakers and allies to build belonging and connection.
- Sponsorships: Since 2011, Albertsons Companies Foundation has donated more than $65 million to nonprofit organizations focused on supporting people with disabilities including the Special Olympics, Easterseals and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Support ranges from volunteer time, event participation, in-kind products and generous donations from customers at the register.
- Supplier Diversity Program: Albertsons Cos. hosted its Fourth Annual Supplier Diversity Event earlier this year, which is designed to discover, support and give diverse-owned suppliers the opportunity to expand their business with Albertsons Cos. and its stores.

The Disability Equality Index was launched in 2015 in the United States as a joint initiative of Disability:IN and The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and is acknowledged today as the most robust disability inclusion assessment tool in business. The report is the world’s most comprehensive benchmarking tool for Fortune 1000 scope companies to measure disability workplace inclusion inside their organization and to assess performance across industry sectors. Each participating company receives a score on a scale of zero to 100, with those earning 80 and above recognized as Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion. The Disability Equality Index measures companies based on Culture and Leadership; Enterprise-Wide Access; Employment Practices; Community Engagement; Supplier Diversity and Responsible Procurement.
