Beware Hazards in Healthcare: New Management Standards for Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals

Recently proposed EPA regulation provides a streamlined approach for healthcare facilities to better manage their hazardous pharmaceutical waste. To prepare for these changes, healthcare facilities, including manufacturers, distributers, pharmacies and retailers of pharmaceutical products in the USA will need to make operational adjustments around notification, training, record keeping and reporting.

Dallas Burtraw is one of the nation’s foremost experts on environmental regulation in the electricity sector. For two decades, he has worked on creating a more efficient and politically rational method for controlling air pollution. He also studies electricity restructuring, competition, and economic deregulation. He is particularly interested in incentive-based approaches for environmental regulation, the most notable of which is a tradable permit system, and recently has studied ways to introduce greater cost-effectiveness into regulation under the Clean Air Act

UPS Invests $100 Million in Compressed Natural Gas, CNG Vehicles and Related Infrastructure

UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced plans to build an additional 12 compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations and add 380 new CNG tractors to its growing alternative fuel and advanced technology fleet. The CNG fueling stations and vehicle purchases totaling $100 million are part of UPS’s ongoing commitment to diversify its fuel sources and reduce its environmental impact.

With the world refugee crisis growing and the risk of other humanitarian tragedy increasing, The UPS Foundation, which leads the global citizenship programs for UPS (NYSE: UPS), will award the highest amount of grant funding and in-kind support ever to advance humanitarian preparedness, response and recovery programs. In addition, it will expand its support and expertise to help make roads safer around the world for drivers, passengers and pedestrians. The combination of grants and in-kind services will go to more than 30 NGOs, non-profit organizations and United Nations (UN) agencies for a total of $14 million.
