It’s National Volunteer Week. Through the Cox Conserves Heroes program, we are honored to have recognized more than 150 environmental volunteers. Building trails, removing litter from rivers, generating environmental awareness, protecting aquifers, saving burrowing owls, leading interactive tours at farms, creating community gardens, removing invasive species and saving Hemlock trees are just a few of the projects led by Cox Conserves Heroes. And, it’s not their job. It’s their passion and commitment to the environment that spur this volunteerism and inspires others to act.

In doing so, the Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of both companies, Tom Enders and Joe Kaeser, have launched a major joint project towards the electrification of aviation with the goal of demonstrating the technical feasibility of various hybrid/electric propulsion systems by 2020.

CITGO Petroleum Corporation marked its 18th year as presenting sponsor of the Special Olympics Area 2 (South Texas) Spring Games on April 2. More than 600 athletes from 16 area counties convened at Flour Bluff High School in Corpus Christi to compete in the 33rd annual Spring Games. Volunteers from the CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery were on hand to help escort teams during opening ceremonies, run track and field events, serve as timekeepers, park cars, and congratulate competitors.
