Allstate Ranks as One of America’s Most Diverse Companies
Commitment to inclusive diversity helps company move from No. 43 to 37 on annual list
(3BL Media) Northbrook - April 30, 2012 – Allstate Insurance Company has once again joined the ranks of the most diverse companies in America. Allstate was recently recognized by Diversity Inc. in their annual Top 50 Companies for Diversity List for their work to promote inclusive diversity. Allstate moved up six-points in this year’s list and was ranked No. 37. The list included companies from a wide-range of industries, including consulting, retail, manufacturing and banking.
“Inclusive diversity is a core part of Allstate,” stated Thomas J. Wilson, chairman, president and chief executive officer at Allstate. “We proactively break down barriers, leverage our differences and find reasons to change rather than excuses to stay the same. Diversity is about people, and people are the key to our success.”
Support of multicultural and diverse communities is one of the key metrics used by Diversity Inc. when determining their annual rankings. In 2011, more than 40 percent of Allstate’s philanthropic endeavors supported multicultural communities around the country.
“Allstate has a had a long standing commitment to diversity both within our company and in communities around the country,” stated Michael Escobar, chief diversity and organization effectiveness officer, at Allstate “Through our philanthropic efforts and our employee resource groups, we are able to make a long-lasting impact on multi-cultural communities and help address key societal needs.”
Allstate was also recognized for its 28 company-wide resource groups and online communities that provide opportunities for networking, on-boarding of new hires, mentoring, talent development and marketing. Senior Allstate executives work with each group and the groups provide feedback and recommendations on diversity-training course design, content and delivery.

About the Diversity Inc Top 50 List
A total of 587 companies participated in the 2012 Diversity Inc Top 50 competition, up 11 percent from last year. Twelve percent more companies were able to answer every question on the 300-field survey, which is divided into four parts: CEO Commitment, Human Capital, Corporate and Organizational Communications, and Supplier Diversity.
The results are determined by statistical analysis. It is an independent editorial process and there is no fee to enter the competition and no requirement to conduct business with Diversity Inc.
Surveys are sent out in October to all interested companies that have at least 1,000 employees, with a due date for an online submission of March 1. Every company that fills out the survey receives a free report card assessing performance in the four areas measured.
