Apple Sets New Standards in Sustainable Electronics: Greenpeace Report

The aggregate energy footprint of the global electronics industry continues to rise, posing a serious challenge to the environment. Electronics manufacturers around the world, as a category, have not yet addressed this urgent issue in a comprehensive manner. In its present form, the consumer electronics industry, with its global, subcontracted supply chain, remains generally unsustainable, and its products generate high amounts of hazardous e-waste.
However, Apple is demonstrating a renewed commitment to putting transformational energy goals and strategies in place. Apple has shown an increasing willingness to invest in green innovation in order to produce toxic-free gadgets made using renewable energy, and to engage in the responsible sourcing of materials. These are the findings of a new report from Greenpeace, an international environmental group.
