MaryAnn Miller, Senior Vice President, Chief HR Officer and head of Global Marketing and Communications has been named one of 2017’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology by the National Diversity Council.

PHOENIX, April 5, 2017 /3BL Media/ -- Avnet (NYSE: AVT), a leading global technology distributor, announced today that MaryAnn Miller, Senior Vice President, Chief HR Officer and head of Global Marketing and Communications has been named one of 2017’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology by the National Diversity Council. This is the third time in her 11-year tenure with Avnet that Miller has received this distinguished honor, first in 2014 and again in 2015. She was recognized this year for her leadership in building an engaged community of 15,000 employees worldwide to navigate significant organizational and cultural change around Avnet’s transformation and growth strategy, her mentorship to other women leaders, and her commitment to corporate citizenship.

The National Diversity Council is a non-profit organization committed to fostering a learning environment for organizations to grow in their knowledge of diversity and inclusion. The annual list recognizes female executives, influencers and achievers who contribute to the growth or strategic direction of their organization; demonstrate a commitment to corporate citizenship, integrity and ethical behavior; and serve as role models and mentors to inspire future generations of female professionals.

As a corporate officer, Miller is a member of the Avnet Executive Board and reports directly to Avnet CEO William Amelio. She has dual responsibility for leading global human resources and organizational development, as well as corporate marketing and communications and its strategic alignment to Avnet's overall enterprise initiatives. Avnet is a Fortune 500 company serving customers in more than 125 countries with design and supply chain services to get their technology products to the marketplace.

“Having an experienced and passionate leader like MaryAnn has been crucial to keeping employees engaged and energized through our transformation,” said William Amelio, chief executive officer, Avnet. “Her spirited leadership exemplifies our company’s core values of integrity, objectivity, know-how, ingenuity, empathy and collaboration. She is committed to growing our business, while bettering those around her and in our community. On behalf of the entire Avnet organization, I congratulate MaryAnn not only on this recognition, but on a career portfolio filled with so much success.”

Miller’s leadership extends outside of Avnet. She received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University (ASU) in 2010, and was inducted into the W.P. Carey School Hall of Fame in 2013. Since 2016, Miller has served as an executive sponsor of the Avnet Innovation Lab, a partnership with ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering established to support entrepreneurs as they develop and scale their innovations.

Miller and her fellow 2017 honorees will be recognized at the Top 50 Women in Technology Awards Gala on October 19, 2017, in San Francisco. The complete list of 2017 honorees can be viewed at www.top50tech.org.
