Balfour Beatty Construction Hires Three Senior Executives in Southwest
San Diego, July 18, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Balfour Beatty Construction has hired three senior executives and industry experts to manage and grow the company’s presence in the areas of environment, health and safety; healthcare; and business development in the Southwest.
Bob Kain, AIA, Director of Healthcare
Bob Kain has been named director of healthcare for Balfour Beatty Construction in the Southwest and will lead the development of new business opportunities in the healthcare market located in San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Inland Empire, and Phoenix. A registered architect, Kain brings more than 32 years of industry experience. Prior to his new position with Balfour Beatty, Kain was the primary owner of HMC Architects where he held positions as president, CEO, and Chairman of the Board and focused on all aspects of healthcare facility development. Most recently, Kain served as principal-in-charge for several large replacement facilities including the new $370 million Kaiser Permanente Replacement Hospital in Fontana, Calif. Kain has also worked side-by-side with multi-tiered healthcare systems to implement master plans, build new medical center campuses, complete seismic remodels, and improve the overall operational viability of aging facilities. Kain is a founding member of the American College of Healthcare Architects, a member of the OSHPD Hospital Building Safety Board, Commissioner for the Riverside City Planning Commission, and a member of the Inland Empire Economic Partnership Executive Committee. He received his Architecture degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
John “Spree” Spriestersbach, Director of Business Development for Orange County and Los Angeles
John “Spree” Spriestersbach has been named director of business development for Orange County and Los Angeles. He will lead efforts to secure new business opportunities in the private and public sectors in Orange County and Los Angeles within all of the company’s vertical market sectors including multi-family residential, hospitality, commercial, entertainment, and aviation. Spree brings more than 25 years of design-build construction experience. His business development experience includes hospitals, surgery centers, assisted living facilities, hospitality, low and high-rise residential mixed use, retail malls, film studios, broadcasting facilities, and aviation. Spree received his B.A. degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from California State University, Fullerton.
Leary Jones, CHST, CMIT, Senior Director of Safety, Health and Environmental
Leary Jones has been named senior director of safety, health and environmental for the company in the Southwest. Jones brings 32 years of safety/risk management experience in the construction, industrial, refinery, military and aviation industries. Most recently, Jones served as the regional safety director for Turner Construction where he oversaw the environmental, health and safety programs throughout the west coast, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and Mexico. Prior to that, he served as safety manager and technician for numerous Air Force Bases around the world and taught courses for the Air Force’s Safety Technical School at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colo. Leary attended Southern Illinois University where he studied Industrial Technology and also received an Associate of Applied Science degree in Safety Technology from the Community College of the Air Force. Leary is a certified Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), a certified Construction Manager in Training (CMIT), and has obtained numerous safety and environmental related training and certifications.
